Listed below are a few of Isaiah's favorite toys from when he was a baby to now...
The OBall. I love everything made by the Oball company. They have balls which are great for for OT and PT. All of their products are full of open holes so they are very light weight and easy for babies to grasp and enjoy.
As Isaiah has gotten older, we still use his plain Oball; I fill it with a scarf and he works on pulling the scarf out and pushing it back in (great OT exercise for his little hands and fingers). Their little cars are great too!
I absolutely love Isaiah's piano play gym that our friends let us borrow.
It is great exercise for Isaiah. When laying down, he happily kicks the piano keys and works those leg muscles while reaching for the toys and working/stretching his arms.
The piano can also be changed to play with while sitting up.
Another toy Isaiah loved as a baby and young toddler was the Spin and Sing Alphabet Zoo by LeapFrog.
It has a very secure base and was great when laying on his side or sitting up.
Once your child is sitting up with or without support, a toy that works well (almost everything can be reached by Isaiah with this one) is the Get Cookin' Kitchen by Bright Starts.
Isaiah enjoys playing with the sink and oven and switching the light switch. He get a kick out of the sounds and music too. This one looks similar and really awesome too.
Foam blocks are a safe way to build towers and houses without worrying about heavy blocks falling on your child with OI. Isaiah loves building towers ("ta daaa!" and then knocking them down and I love that I don't have to worry about those blocks landing on his legs and hurting him. We have two sets that we rotate in Isaiah's toy rotation (I mix things up so toys don't get "old" for him.) One is a simple set of varying colors and shapes and the other is a textured set that is a bit sturdier.
A toy that Isaiah is in love with as a 2 year old toddler is the Servin' Surprises Kitchen and Table. It is perfect for him now that he is in his wheelchair as the height of the table is adjustable!
I actually love it so much that I gave it its own post; you can find that here. :)
