Clothing for an OI Baby

Clothes

Our babies grow at a slower rate, so I personally wouldn't worry about a variety of bigger sizes.  When writing this, Isaiah (type III) is 14 months old and swimming in size 3-6 months clothes.  Definitely request newborn size and 0-3 to start out for the first year.

Avoid onesies at first.  Stick to what I lovingly call "snap-happy" clothes.  Carters always has a line that they call "creepers", they are the uniform of our OI babies.

You want cotton clothes.  No fleece.  Our babies sweat more than a typical baby.

No footies.  It stinks because they are so freaking cute...but if your baby has severely bowed legs, they will restrict him/her from being able to move well and you want them moving those leggies!

 Movement=muscle=protecting those bones.

If you want long sleeve, make sure to look for pieces that snap down both legs, like this:

(I think they are often referred to as "sleepers".)  It's like going on a scavenger hunt with these pieces, but trust me, they will be your go-to in colder climates.

For girls, the company Zutano sometimes offers dresses that button all the way down.  Leg warmers are great, especially for when one leg is in a splint.  Adult knee socks and kids' tights work well to use as leg warmers too, just cut them to size. :)

More info to come. :)
